The goal:

The objective of this demo is to show the deployment of a virtual elastic cluster over a hybrid cloud platform with trans-atlantic resources using a secured federated network. In particular an analysis of echocardiography images from a screening program has been deployed on top of an elastic Mesos cluster.

The challenge:

The challenges are basically the deployment of an virtual cluster on a federated trans-atlantic hybrid cloud connected with a secure federated network and the automatic elasticity on the provisioning of resources.

The Impact:

Scientist can easily deploy their applications over virtual clusters without the burden of installing and configuring the resources, and without the need of managing the infrastructure resources and being able of accessing hybrid resources connected in a secure way.

Without atmosphere:

The users had to manually deploy and configure resources and they were not able to access resources on different cloud sites in a secure and transparent way.

With atmosphere:

Now the users can easily deploy virtual clusters on top of federated resources that can be distributed on different cloud providers, thus accessing a bigger amount of resources if the resources of a single site are not enough to their application.
