The ATMOSPHERE (Adaptive, Trustworthy, Manageable, Orchestrated, Secure, Privacy-assuring, Hybrid Ecosystem for REsilient Cloud Computing) Project offers two Post-doc researchers the chance to join an exciting international consortium with partners from Brazil and all over Europe (see below).

A transatlantic cloud computing project publicly funded by Europe and Brazil

ATMOSPHERE is a collaborative project funded under the EUB-01-2017 topic on cloud computing and aims to design and develop an ecosystem comprising a framework and platform enabling the implementation of next generation trustworthy cloud services on top of an intercontinental hybrid and federated resource pool.

The framework considers a broad spectrum of trustworthiness properties and their measures. The platform supports the development, building, deployment, measurement and evolution of trustworthy cloud resources, data management services and data processing services, demonstrated on a sensitive scenario consisting of a cloud-enabled secure and trustworthy application for distributed exploitation of telemedicine, as well as GPGPU (General Purpose Graphics Processing Unit) and microcontainer-based systems.

Two post-Doc positions open to join international research teams

The Dipartimento di Elettronica, Informazione e Bioingegneria (DEIB) from Politecnico di Milano, a partner of ATMOSPHERE, is looking for two post-Docs to join the ATMOSPHERE international consortium. You can apply for two vacancies on:

  1. CLOUD SYSTEMS: for candidates with experience on machine learning and, possibly, performance modelling and assessment of cloud and big data systems with a background on performance benchmarking.
  2. SOFTWARE DEFINED NETWORKS: for candidates with experience on research and experimental testbeds of SDN architectures, controllers, and applications.

Do I have the necessary profile?

  • A PhD degree in a relevant field and good record of publications.
  • English fluency (English will be the working language. Knowledge of Italian is not required).
  • Expertise in cloud computing, performance evaluation, machine learning, software-defined networking or traffic engineering, which would be highly regarded.
  • Experience in collaborative research projects and in supervising masters and undergraduate students would also be a preferential skill.

What are the conditions?

  • Start date: December 1st, 2017 (negotiable)
  • Type of contract: Fixed term contract (CDD) for 12 months. The contract can be extended up to 24 months.
  • Gross salary: 26,000-38,000 EUR, according to experience.

Which research teams at the Politecnico di Milano will I join?

How do I apply?

  • Deadline for submissions: 30th October 2017 (submissions received after that date are welcome and will be considered, as long as the positions are still available).
  • Application documents: Curriculum Vitae, list of publications (with a shortlist of the three of the most important papers), and an outline of prospective research (no more than 2 pages)
